Therapeutic Approaches

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

One of the most common and effective treatments used in practice today, CBT combines behavioural and cognitive therapy, exposing the links of one’s feelings, thoughts, and behaviours, to help target maladaptive thinking and actions to develop resiliency and coping strategies. CBT is a time-limited, structured, goal-oriented approach that identifies automatic thoughts, cognitive distortions by providing a framework to process and work through what is happening in one’s life. This type of treatment can be applied to a variety of different issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues or conflict resolution and stress reduction.

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

Like CBT, DBT is an evidence-based treatment that places emphasis on the identification of our cognitions, but rather than seek evidence to support or disprove our thoughts and feelings, it focused on mindfulness, emotional regulation, and the acceptance of our pain. Typically, a longer-term treatment type than CBT, DBT incorporates skills training such as mindfulness and distress tolerance.

Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)

While some therapies are rooted in the past, SFT focuses clients to their present and future, allowing them to use visualization to identify their goals and blockages for achieving their desired outcomes. Our therapy is centred upon identifying strengths and struggles and finding solutions to challenges. This type of approach can be extremely effective for individuals, families, and couples.
